Sunday at the Markets of Teror and San Mateo

As we ascend through the town of Tamaraceite, we will enter the area known as Las Medianías, a vast region encompassing various municipalities situated at an altitude of 600 to 1,500 meters. This area surprises all our visitors with its greenery and crops, offering a landscape that will accompany us for much of the day, quite different from what we are accustomed to in the south of the island, where significant agricultural and livestock activities take place. Our destination is the charming towns of Teror and San Mateo, where traditional markets are held on Sundays.

Teror: A town with a well-preserved historic center that features the Basilica of Our Lady of the Pine, the patroness of the Diocese of the Canary Islands, as well as magnificent stately houses and Canary-style palaces that testify to the historical importance of this town. Its vibrant street market combines local products with crafts, clothing, and souvenirs. It is a pleasure to combine shopping with a stroll through its pedestrian streets.

Vega de San Mateo: A municipality with a strong agricultural and livestock character, where an interesting market of local gastronomic products, fruits, vegetables, cheese, nuts, and spices takes place on Sundays. An explosion of aromas and flavors that you cannot miss, accompanied by musical performances that invite you to dance.
