Description

Gran Canaria, bathed by the crystal-clear waters of the Atlantic, is a paradise for cetacean lovers. Up to 30 species of these magnificent creatures inhabit or visit our coasts, making the Canary Islands one of the most diverse cetacean locations in the world and the largest in Europe.

Our 97-seat catamaran with two decks departs from the Base Port in Puerto Rico. We sail for two and a half hours along the southwest coast of the island in search of cetaceans for observation. The boat is specifically designed for spotting these formidable marine mammals, with perfect visibility for passengers, including underwater viewing windows. Our captain, Iván López, a certified professional in whale watching, has been at the helm of our Spirit of the Sea for 15 years, always showing deep respect for these animals, their natural habitat, and their behaviors.

During the excursion, passengers receive all sorts of details about the animals we encounter, as well as their lifestyles, feeding habits, mating, etc. Customers also have a QR code with additional information about each type of dolphin or whale that swims in the Canary waters. Our crew consists of professionals knowledgeable about the history and environment of cetaceans, ensuring that our passengers are well taken care of at all times.

We are an accessible boat for people with reduced mobility, smoke-free, and the only boat in Gran Canaria that belongs to the World Cetacean Alliance (WCA), Experts with Respect. We collect sighting data for use in various projects at the University of Las Palmas, and when we rescue turtles or birds caught in nets and plastics, we deliver them to the Wildlife Recovery Center.
