La Playa Costa Alegre is a small, cozy beach located in the heart of Arguineguín, perfect for spending a quiet time by the sea. It's a small beach, with a mix of sand and pebbles, but quite well-kept. The water is usually calm thanks to its shape and the breakwaters, making it perfect for swimming peacefully or just relaxing on the shore. Additionally, it has some services like sunbeds, showers, and nearby places to eat or drink, which makes it quite comfortable for spending several hours there. There are even beach bars and a nice atmosphere, especially on sunny days. Although it's not a very big beach, it usually has a good vibe and can get crowded during peak hours. A real shame. Arguineguín has a spectacular beach, but after every weekend, it’s sad to see it turned into a garbage dump. On Sunday afternoons, when many visitors leave, there are cigarette butts everywhere, beer cans, food scraps, sunscreen containers, banana peels, sunflower seeds, plastics, glass, and even shards in the sea. And I say this with sadness, not with the intention of attacking anyone: unfortunately, many times tourists take better care of these places than some residents who have them next door all year round. This is not “beach life.” It’s a lack of respect, a lack of education, and a lack of control. The same happens in Patalavaca, where the municipality has a clear responsibility: there are not enough trash bins, maintenance is lacking, and even the water doesn’t work as it should. A shame for my little island, for my beloved Arguineguín, and for all those who still believe that a beach is enjoyed, but also taken care of.
